General Safety Guidelines:

 

Emergency Procedures

Familiarize yourself with emergency exits, fire evacuation routes, and assembly points.

In case of an emergency, follow the instructions of staff members and evacuate the building calmly and quickly.

Report any emergencies, accidents, or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

 

Personal Hygiene

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizers provided in designated areas if soap and water are not available.

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of tissues properly and wash your hands afterward.

Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.

 

First Aid

The Drum Experience maintains a first aid kit in Castlebar, Glenamaddy & Kiltimagh Schools. Inform a staff member immediately in case of injuries or illnesses requiring first aid.

If you require medical attention beyond basic first aid, contact emergency services or seek medical assistance as needed.

 

Building Safety

Fire Safety

Familiarize yourself with the location of fire extinguishers, fire alarms, and emergency exits.

Do not tamper with or block fire safety equipment, emergency exits, or fire doors.

Report any fire hazards or malfunctioning fire safety equipment to the appropriate staff member.

 

Electrical Safety

Do not overload electrical outlets or use damaged electrical cords. Report any electrical hazards or damaged equipment to the appropriate staff member.

Use only approved electrical equipment in designated areas.

If you observe any sparking, smoke, or unusual odors from electrical outlets or equipment, inform a staff member immediately.

 

Instrument and Equipment Safety Instrument Handling

Treat musical instruments with care and respect. Follow proper handling instructions provided by instructors and staff.

Do not touch or use instruments without permission.

Report any damage or malfunctioning instruments to the appropriate staff member.

 

Equipment Usage

Use equipment only for its intended purpose and follow the provided instructions.

Report any malfunctioning or damaged equipment to the appropriate staff member.

Do not attempt to repair equipment unless you are authorized and trained to do so.

Personal Safety

 

Moving and Lifting Objects

Use proper lifting techniques when moving heavy objects to avoid strains and injuries.

Seek assistance if an object is too heavy or cumbersome to move alone.

 

Walking Surfaces

Watch your step and be aware of uneven or slippery surfaces.

Report any hazards, spills, or damaged walking surfaces to the appropriate staff member.

 

COVID-19 Guidelines

Social Distancing

Maintain a distance of at least [recommended distance] from others.

Avoid physical contact such as handshakes and hugs.

Face Coverings

Wear face coverings/masks in designated areas or as instructed by the management.

Ensure your face covering fits properly and covers your nose and mouth.

All students, faculty, staff, and visitors must comply with these health and safety guidelines.

Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in disciplinary actions.

Report any health and safety concerns or violations to the appropriate staff member or management.

Anonymity will be respected if requested.
